Nebraska Public Transit Week is an opportunity for all Nebraskans to show support for their local transit system and to experience the benefits of public transportation for themselves.
Nebraska Public Transit Week has been dedicated to raising awareness of public transportation across the state for the past seven years. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic decreasing Americans’ need to travel in 2020, public transit proved its essential nature in Nebraska with over 2.7 million passenger boardings. Transit providers traveled over 5.7 million miles to get Nebraskans where they needed to go.
Governor Pete Ricketts proclaimed Nebraska Public Transit Week in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Public transit providers will celebrate Nebraska Public Transit Week in 2021 from April 11-17.
Transportation providers hold events and promotions in communities across the state. Past events and promotions have included:
- Free or Half Price Rides
