2023 Quarter One Statewide Mobility Manager’s Message

Apr 07, 2023

Community. It can be a hard word to define sometimes, but we know it when we see it, and we saw it in Norfolk in February.

The community rallied to the aid of North Fork Area Transit and was able to secure the funding necessary to restart transit operations. Contributions came in small and large from a wide spectrum of organizations and individuals. Service is hoped to recommence as soon as April.

Sometimes we might take public transit for granted, but when operations cease it becomes clear very quickly how necessary it is. And in areas of the state still with limited or no service, there are people who need safe, affordable, and efficient public transportation for work, education, shopping, medical appointments, social activities, and connecting to other transportation networks.

We are all here to help every community in the state have and retain access to public transportation.
