Nebraska Drivers Participate in National Roadeo

Jul 07, 2023

The 32nd Annual National Community Transportation Roadeo was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, May 20-21, 2023, in conjunction with the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) EXPO. This event draws drivers from around the country to compete for top scores on a course that tests skills on every level of the drivers’ abilities, with a primary focus on safe operations and passenger sensitivity.

This year’s event had a total of 67 drivers competing in the body-on-chassis division, including a written test, pre-check inspection, wheelchair securement, and an obstacle course. Nebraska sponsored four drivers for the competition: Colby Risseeuw with KCTS, Mindy Manning with Florence Home, Mike Towery with City of McCook Transit, and Ramona Daniels with Saline County Area Transit. Congratulations to our drivers who competed this year!

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the Nebraska Association of Transportation Providers (NATP) provide scholarships for the top two drivers of the Nebraska Roadeo in both the minivan and body-on-chassis divisions to attend the national Roadeo.

The NATP Roadeo will be held September 27, 2023, and the winning drivers and their managers will be offered scholarships to the national Roadeo in West Palm Beach, Florida, June 8-9, 2024.
