The Nebraska Department of Transportation has prioritized updating Title VI plans for all 5311 and 5310 subrecipients in the coming months. In September transit providers received an email from Kari Ruse explaining that many agencies had not updated within the requisite last three years, leading to this push to update plans across the state.

In October the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Center for Public Affairs Research will be reaching out to 5311 agencies to gather information necessary to updating Title VI plans. You will, or already have, received an email from either Matt Harrington or Michael Lee with a one-page questionnaire for managers to complete. Once the questionnaire is completed and emailed back to the University team, they will work on putting together a plan for the agency’s review. Due to the volume coming in, we cannot provide an estimate for plan’s turnaround times. Once they complete the plan, they will send it back to you for review and approval.

If the plan meets with your approval, please be sure to let them know so they can walk you through the final steps of gaining official approval and submission of your plan.

If you have any questions about your plan or ongoing process, please contact Matt Harrington at mgharrington@unomaha.edu or 402-554-5976.

The entire Nebraska Public Transit team thanks you for your cooperation.
