How does your transit system serve the local community?

We serve everyone and have started to see a great need to get kids to school and that has been huge, we have been working diligently to meet those needs. We are a Medicaid provider and have expanded our service area to go up to 40 miles so that we can meet those needs. Many small communities have no Medicaid providers.

We are so excited about our new flexroute that will be starting in January 2022! We have rebranded to North Fork Area Transit and have beautiful new wraps on our buses and vans. Check us out on northforkareatransit.com.

What are some highlights of serving your community?

Making sure that people can keep their independence and still get where they need to be from doctor visits, shopping, school, and social. With the new flexroute everyone can just hop on a bus and not call for a scheduled ride 24 hours ahead. We certainly hope that we can accommodate many more rides including getting more kids to school and activities. We especially want to see these kids on the bus so they will be future public transit riders.

What are some challenges you see facing both your transit system and the industry as a whole?

Getting vehicles and drivers in this difficult time is a huge challenge.

How does being a member of the Nebraska Association of Transportation Providers benefit your system?

We get valuable and timely information and networking with other providers.

What do your riders think of your transit system?

It seems that people are very happy with our service and love our friendly and safe drivers.
